what happened?

I'm still reeling from the football game last night! Did my Tigers really even play? Lightening made an appearance, but what about a little Thunder? ahhhh!! I'm sure all the negative fans will be coming out of the woodwork to say ,"Fire Tommy", but really is that the solution? Those kids got caught off guard last night and simply never recovered.

wow

Today I was stopped dead in my tracks when I realized that we, not Republicans or Democrats, but the people of this country are taking part in the making of history. I had cold chills and tears in my eyes as I watched McCain introduce his nominee for Vice President, Sarah Palin. And really folks, can I get a big "Hell Yeah!" for a former PTA president working her way through the ranks. I admit I am not an Obama supporter in any size, shape, form or fashion, however, I am thrilled at watching history being made...whichever way you decide to vote come November.

Can you spare some change?

Last week Hubby took Lovebug to the movies to kick off the new school year. Once the movie was over Lovebug needed to go to the ladies room so Hubby let her venture out and go on her own. First time for that, by the way. Well, Lovebug comes out and her hands were still wet. What follows is the conversation that took place:
Hubby: "Lovebug, why didn't you dry your hands off?"
Lovebug: "I didn't have a quarter for the napkins."

MMO

Today was another big day in the Old Faithful house. Baby Girl started MMO! Did my heart ache? Why, of course. What made it bearable? Coming over the hill and Baby Girl seeing her "school" from the backseat and saying, "There it is! School!". I could just squeeze her!!! The kicker for the week? Baby Girl FINALLY used the potty on Monday!! Now, if I can just get her to do it again we'll be in business.

I'm home again

I'm back home from a fantastic weekend get-away trip to Dallas. Unfortunately, I hardly took any pictures. I'm pooped right now, but I will post more about my trip later.

I'm headed to the Big D...and I mean Dallas!

Woohoo!!
Setting the alarm for butt crack a.m. and heading to the airport all by my lonesome for some much needed girl time with one of my former partners in crime that I haven't seen in ages! There is a Cowboy Expo game on Friday night and I swear if I thought I could make it through, I would rush that tunnel in a skinny second just to pretend I was a Cowboys Cheerleader!! Of course, there should be other interesting stories to tell when I get back...that is if I can remember them all!! Kristen, we are making a special trip to Harry Winston's!:) Did you have to sneak your picture or will they let you do that? I need to be able to send Hubby a picture while I'm gone to keep him on his toes!!

So It's Your...

Anniversary!!! Happy 9th Hubby!! Today, and everyday, I think of how lucky I am to have married my very best friend. I remember right before walking down the aisle and feeling so calm and sure and thinking of how I could never possibly love him anymore than I did in that moment in time. I.was.wrong. He's always my strong supporter. My shoulder to lean on. My silly sidekick. And watching him hold my babies...well, it simply takes my breath away. So Hubby, I love you more today than yesterday, but not nearly as much as tomorrow.

and there she goes...

...without any hesitation. We got up extra early to make sure we had everything we needed. Got ready without any complaints. Left and arrived before traffic was crazy. Mostly concerned with seeing her teachers from last year. And that's when I thought I was going to fall to pieces. As the two wonderful women who guided my hand ever so gently into the public school system embraced my beautiful, smart, sweet oldest child. They recognized right off the very thing that I've been watching take place over the past ten weeks...my little girl is turning into a little lady. Breathe and Blink I told myself. And I was able to get past the moment without shedding those tears (until I got home). Off to the new classroom. Eager and ready to learn. Excited about all the new friendships waiting to be made. Pose for some obligatory pictures that MUST be taken on the first day of school of every year...and then she was already in her own little world.

T Minus

T Minus 12 hours, 1 minute! Conflicting feelings! Let you know in the morning how I hold up.

Up and At 'Em

Trying to get back into the swing of the school schedule by giving it a practice run today. By 8:15 I have already showered, let monkey dog out, and made two work phone calls. I MUST ban myself from watching the Olympics at night so I can get myself to bed at a decent hour so I can function in the morning.

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday Hubby!....if you still even read this since I have been so slack at writing lately.

Here's a recap of what's been keeping me from my posting duties.
1. Trying really hard to get Baby Girl interested in going tee-tee on the potty. I forgot how time consuming this task truly is! She has NO desire to actually tee-tee in the potty, but lord, she loves carrying that thing around and she loves her some big girl panties!! But please, PEE IN THE POTTY ALREADY!!

2. In one week I booked two more brides. I try not to go into my work on here, but things are really picking up on that front and I am finding myself at a crossroads regarding family vs. work. Luckily, I have full control over how many events I choose to book so this too will work itself out.

3. All things back-to-school! I know I've mentioned before how sad it makes me to think about, but with the above mentioned work situation it is definitely a blessing for me that school is starting.---No More Mommy Guilt for trying to have the best of both worlds!

4. The social obligations. This one won't get any complaints, but I really can tell I am getting older as it sure takes my body a lot longer to recover from my Women Who Wine nights!

This week is the official first day of school, bride consult, last week with Baby Girl before she makes her educational debut, my 9 year anniversary and then I head to Dallas to visit with one of very best girlfriends in the whole wide world who I haven't seen nearly enough in the past several years. Whew!

future fashionista

With all the hullabaloo getting ready for back-to-school and with my work projects picking up I completely forgot to mention the shopping trip Lovebug and I took last week! I knew for a while that I wanted to start a yearly tradition of an overnight trip for she and I to take before school starts back (and of course, Baby Girl will have these same opportunities when the time comes), but with the mentioned work projects and Hubby's travel schedule it ended up being planned more spur of the moment than normal for me. Lovebug knew nothing of the trip until about an hour before hand and even after we packed up the "Lady" she still didn't know for sure where we were headed--I love a surprise!!:) Lovebug knows her Mommy well and figured it all out quickly as we headed to do some fantastic shopping in Charlotte. I think J Crew's Crew Cuts is absolutely adorable...and obviously so does Lovebug. Within moments she somehow managed to snag herself a personal shopper putting together outfits for her as she tried on and modeled all the styles!! She was too dang cute. Later we enjoyed a fantastic dinner, just the two of us. We packed up some fabulous desserts and headed to our hotel to climb into pj's and watch some television while feasting! The next day the shop-a-thon was back on...to the point I actually got sick of shopping. I know, don't freak out! Lovebug can shop me under the table!! More than anything, I loved being able to just focus on one child at a time and letting her feel like the super special child that she is.

Tooth Fairy

Where is the chapter in the parenting handbook that guides you step-by-step through the difficult task of retrieving a tooth from an oh so light sleepers room and perform the tasks of the fairy by bestowing a crisp dollar bill in said tooth's place? The task, along with the sprinkling of the obligatory pixie dust that the fairy leaves in this house much to the dismay to Hubby, wasn't completed until 4ish this morning! She woke up the first time we attempted the exchange and from there she was in red alert mode for any movement in her room! Needless to say, it was a lazy day in our household as we were worn out from our night duty, but the stories we will have to share with her when she is older is worth the sleepless night!

random

I haven't posted much lately due to getting ready for back to school. How did the summer pass us by so quickly? Our "lazy" days are numbered now and I'm having those emotional mother stirrings starting. This year we start not only first grade in our house, but Baby Girl starts MMO. I know that they both will not only excel in their programs, but they will love it. Still the Mommy in me has the panic feeling that Lovebug is growing up way too fast. This summer alone I noticed a growth spurt that absolutely makes my heart ache and wonder exactly where all the days have gone. The days where it was the two of us as Hubby traveled for work and we were two peas in a pod venturing out together and figuring out the whole Mother/Daughter thing. Me struggling to provide for her something I never received from my own mother. Watching her learn something new everyday and, being the people pleaser that she is, always eager to share it with me. I wonder now how many years I have left of being her number one confidant and it brings me back to the aching heart. Then there's Baby Girl. How can words even sum up the first two years of a child's life? She has to be the most happy-go-lucky child I've ever layed eyes on. And tough as nails! She adores her big sister and wants to do and be wherever she is. She is so full of laughter and is always eager to share a hug with someone--even strangers (I know, I have to watch this child like a hawk!). To hear my two girls together laughing and playing is the most beautiful sound in the world to me. But still the aching heart.

Kid Rock

I should be ashamed to admit this, but I LOVE the new Kid Rock song!! I can't get enough of this summer tune!

Calmer now.

Now that I've been able to relax for the past couple days in my most favorite place in the whole wide world (Charleston, of course!) I am a much calmer Wife. The situation is what it is regarding to seating for football season. I will just have to make a decision next year when the time comes for us to make our donation.

On to brighter things, Charleston!! and Ladies, bright it was--cause it was HOT!! We did get a shower every evening and that helped cool things down to enjoy an evening stroll. We discovered a new restuarant on Sullivan's Island, High Thymes. It was FANTASTIC!! I had the filet topped with pimento cheese and a side of grilled asparagus. For dessert I stuffed my face, I mean, enjoyed a flourless chocolate cake with a raspberry filling and a tall glass of milk. Too yummy! Know what made my trip even better? Tax free shopping weekend along King Street. The new "Lady" accompanied us on our journey and got to enjoy her first trip to the city. Bless her heart, she got broke in good!

Hope you are all having a great and relaxing weekend!
